January 29, 2012 - Classes, Workshops and Open Studio Sessions
DID YOU KNOW ! We all have an INNER ARTIST~ or I.A. ~ YES IT IS TRUE !!!
Maybe your inner artist has been buried deep thinking it has been forgotten. Perhaps your inner artist may be just below the surface waiting for a helping hand to emerge gloriously. Or possibly your inner artist knew enough to come out all on it’s own, Hallelujah!
Whether buried deep, below the surface, emerging cautiously, regardless of the level, we will unleash your creativity to the Universe where it can soar triumphantly. In my brand new art studio overlooking the Ottawa River in Castleford, minutes from Arnprior and Renfrew, inspiration will abound with like minded creative souls. Working primarily in Acrylics and Mixed Media we will explore endless techniques, and various subject matter.
Jill is offering a series of Classes, Workshops, Open Studio sessions and Private Lessons.

The Feb. 24 Do It For Daron fundraiser (supporting the Daron Richardson Mental Health Fund at the Royal Ottawa Hospital) brought the movement home to the tight-knit family that is the Ottawa-West Golden Knights Junior Hockey Club.
The Golden Knights Jr B game, held at the Barbara Ann Scott Arena, and the fundraising event that surrounded it - Do It For Daron - served to further awareness of an issue that was brought to the forefront of public dialogue following a recent tragedy.
Since the suicide of 14-year-old Daron Richardson in November a movement started by her parents, Ottawa Senators' assistant coach Luke Richardson and wife Stephanie has served to educate people on youth mental health and the danger of continuing a culture of silence surrounding the uncomfortable topic of suicide.
Public in attendance bid on donated silent auction items during the course of the game. One item, a painting by Nepean artist Jill Alexander (mother of a Golden Knights player), was created specifically to honour Daron. Featuring young female hockey players on a picturesque outdoor rink, the painting makes tasteful use of the colour purple - Daron's favourite colour and the official colour of the DIFD campaign.
Alexander was motivated to become involved, saying the cause started by the Richardsons will help raise awareness and take away the taboo of adolescent depression and other mental illnesses, and suicide.
Golden Knights Director David Gibbons echoed the same thoughts once the game commenced. He told the EMC that Daron's death has had an impact on people who barely knew her, compelling many to open up about personal concerns.
"As much as we've lost Daron, the bottom line is - I know this will save lives," said Gibbon. "Their bravery with regards to talking about it, putting it on the front burner and making parents talk to their kids about it, in turn will save lives."
